Not all backlit channel letters sign projects are the same. Some require additional consideration like Hartford Truck Equipment’s project for their new location.
The project called for backlit channel lettering, or halo lit signage. The picture shows what this looks like at night.
There were other sign businesses competing for this backlit channel letters sign project. One of the factors that won G-Force Signs the job was catching a subtle but important detail regarding the building. Specifically, the corrugated siding where the sign was to be installed.
The corrugated siding was important to capture in the design process because, without proper installation of a backing material, the backlighting would have been less focused, or diffused, with light “spiking” along the valleys of the corrugated siding. We compensated for the buildings wall material finish by installing a backer panel, which you can view in the daytime picture below.
How the winning design was selected
We provided a few design options and the company turned to its Facebook fans for input on selecting the winning backlit channel letters sign design.
Weather presented a challenge
The project deadline was based on an opening day for the business in their new location. The weather decided to add a challenge for our installation team by bringing storms for the days we scheduled the installation work. We let Mother Nature have her storms and our crews came in over the weekend prior to the opening to ensure Hartford Truck Equipment was 100% ready to “open their doors”.

Not all backlit channel lettering projects are the same. Understanding where and how the channel letter signage will be installed will affect the design specifications for the project. It is important the company you contract with explores specifics of your building and sign project.
In this project with Hartford Truck Equipment, we won the contract because of our expertise and diligence, which brought to the client’s attention the impact their corrugated siding would have on the backlit channel lettering.
