When a company moves to a new location or decides to rebrand their current location one of the first things that needs to be addressed is signage. It is important to prominently display your company logo in a manner that aligns with your branding guidelines. The most common signage “package” that many companies decide to utilize includes three major pieces: an exterior free-standing sign, a building sign, and a lobby sign. Sometimes these projects include other options such as window graphics, directional signs, ADA signs, and frosted window graphics; however, we will focus on the three main pieces and how they relate to branding. Our recent project for the new location for ABB in Bloomfield,CT is a good example of this “signage package” that includes the three major sign options.
Monument Sign
A high quality free-standing sign will make a statement for your company while simultaneously labeling the entrance. Companies will often use a sign of this type for this dual purpose. ABB chose to use a free-standing monument which was constructed using a fabricated and painted aluminum box. Their logo was created with ½” painted acrylic letters for some added dimension. The final size of this sign is 112” wide and 76” tall with the ABB logo having a 25.5” letter height. These dimensions make this sign visible hundreds of feet down the road.
Building Sign
One of the best options for building signs is internally illuminated channel letters. This type of sign combines the benefits of individual letters and lightboxes to create a sign that looks amazing in all lighting conditions which is why ABB chose this option for their building. This sign is 10 feet wide and almost 4 feet tall making this sign viewable at any point that it can be seen from the road.
Lobby Sign
If your company has a lobby/waiting area then it is a prime place to add your logo to your interior. This can be done either on an accent wall or at your reception desk. A well designed and properly placed lobby sign can complete the look in the room and help to create a welcoming atmosphere for your company. ABB opted to continue the dimensional letter appearance in their lobby with ½” thick painted aluminum letters. This sign was placed behind their reception desk and is almost 7 feet wide and 30” tall which fills the space well given the high ceilings in the room.
